How 5 Celebrity Chefs Make The Most Of Their Home Kitchens

A celebrity chef is a unique kind of celebrity. Many of them spend their time teaching people how to make delicious meals, whether that’s through a TV show or in a restaurant kitchen. People across the world have learned new recipes and made memories as a result of watching a chef on TV. We know they cook for a living. But what is a chef’s home kitchen like? Well, we’re about to find out.

Gordon Ramsay

Chef Gordon Ramsay went all out on this kitchen renovation. He and his wife Tana had this room added to the house to accommodate a large kitchen. In the center lies a Rorgue cooker. It weighs over two tons and has three ovens, a charcoal grill, two gas ring burners, and more. It’s so heavy that the construction crew placed it in the room by crane and then they built the roof on top afterward.

This chef’s home kitchen makes appearances on Matilda and the Ramsay Bunch, a CBBC program in the UK that focuses on cooking for children. Not a bad place to try out some new recipes. In addition to this kitchen, there’s another kitchen in the basement of their home that they use on a more day-to-day basis.

Giada de Laurentiis

For Giada de Laurentiis, her kitchen had to be both good-looking and functional. As for its usefulness, it contains four ovens, two dishwashers, and plenty of storage space. She can host gatherings and make meals for a crowd in a kitchen like this. And for its design, this chef’s home kitchen is covered in white marble, white concrete, and dark wenge wood.

The combination is sophisticated and modern, and Giada is able to use this kitchen for television if she wants to. Like many celebrity chefs, Giada likes to use the kitchen as a place to wind down. At work, she’s on a set and cooking for the camera. At home, she gets to cook for herself and her family.

Bobby Flay

This is Bobby Flay and Stephanie March’s kitchen in their Hamptons home (they have another one in Manhattan). This kitchen blends modern and traditional elements to create a place that’s inviting. While it’s a great hangout spot, it can also handle any type of culinary challenge Flay throws at it.

The chef’s home kitchen has a fryer, griddle, two ovens, a 10-burner stove, and a salamander. In an interview with Elle Decor, he said he loves that his kitchen is technically a restaurant. He hosts Thanksgiving dinners for crowds of 50 or more, basically standing at the kitchen island from when he arrives until after the festivities are over. The kitchen helps him out by being fully functional and welcoming at the same time.

Ina Garten

Ina Garten, also known as the Barefoot Contessa, built this barn kitchen as an addition to her home in the Hamptons. It has all the amenities a star chef would want and is a great space for entertaining. The kitchen area includes a Viking gas cooktop with electric ovens plus an induction cooktop.

While there’s a lot going on in this chef’s home kitchen, it doesn’t sprawl out too much into the rest of the space. That’s because Ina likes to have a contained workspace within the large room. She also wanted to make sure that guests wouldn’t have to pass through the cooking area to get from on barn door to the other. Another thing you’ll notice is that this kitchen has open cabinets. This keeps things easy when it’s time to unload the dishwasher, plus it’s stylish.

Guy Fieri

For some reason, this kitchen is probably what you’d expect to see when you think of Guy Fieri. It’s bold and has plenty of hot areas for cooking, including a wood oven. This is his outdoor kitchen on his ranch property, but he spends more time living in another home he and his wife have owned for over 20 years. Guy Fieri co-owns over 40 restaurants that serve customers in the US, Mexico, and South Africa.

In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Guy said he likes to cook with fresh vegetables, farro, and quinoa. The chef and restauranteur spent a year in France during high school which ignited his love of cooking, and he says eating in courses is great for slowing down a meal and eating less. This chef’s home kitchen certainly has enough cooking areas to prep and create a multi-course meal.
