An SKU, which is short for stock-keeping unit, is an organizational method used by businesses to help them keep track of inventory. It also helps them to identify parts and pieces that customers want. An SKU is typically a system of numbers and letters that is assigned to each style, piece and unit. For example, cabinet doors that have the same arch design may have similar SKUs, and the variations may indicate the different finishes or woods that are available. This will help manufacturers identify how many of each product they have in stock and how many have been ordered. They can then identify which variation of the door is more popular in order to have more on hand in the future.
