8 Green Bathroom Ideas to Try in 2022

Your bathroom is a place for you to relax and unwind after a long and stressful day. But how can you create a space that evokes peace and serenity? One of our favorite bathroom design trends is incorporating green into the space! There are many green bathroom ideas to consider, ranging from green bathroom walls to introducing live elements. We’ve compiled a list of our favorite 8 green bathroom ideas to help you determine which design choices are right for your bathroom remodel.

1. Create a tile accent wall

One of our favorite ways to incorporate various shades of green into a bathroom is to create a beautiful tile accent wall as the focal point of the room. While you can simply paint a wall in the bathroom green, incorporating tiles adds texture and dimension to the space. You have an endless supply of tiles to select from, allowing you to create a one-of-a-kind aesthetic. From traditional subway tile in sage green or hexagon tile in a deep emerald shade, you can determine what type of tile will bring your vision to life.f

2. Paint the wall (or a portion of it)

Depending on the size and shape of your bathroom, you may be considering painting an accent wall (or the entire bathroom!) a shade of green. For smaller spaces, we recommend opting for a lighter shade such as sage or seafoam green bathroom walls. If working with more square footage, you can likely get away with a darker shade of green, such as emerald. However, don’t feel pressure to paint the entire wall! Instead, you can paint the bottom half of the wall in a shade of green and leave the top half white ? resembling wainscoting. Painting a portion of the wall allows you to incorporate the desired color without having it completely overwhelm the space.

3. Introduce lively green elements

If you aren’t ready to commit to a fully green bathroom during your bathroom remodel, we have another idea you can try ? plants! Install a few shelves where you can display a few live plants and add a tall floor plant for some variety. Not only will these beautiful green leaves make your bathroom feel spa-like, but they will help clean the air in your bathroom and release oxygen that can boost your mood. Depending on how much green you want in the space, you can keep adding more plants to the bathroom. However, it is important to pick out the right plants for the space. Take note of how much natural light each plant needs and how often they need to be watered to keep them looking their best. If you don’t have a green thumb, you may want to opt for faux plants, so you don’t need to worry about their upkeep.

4. Add in green accents

If plants aren’t your vibe, there are other ways to incorporate green accents into your bathroom. We love using green accents when contrasting against a neutral backdrop, such as a bathroom with a white color scheme and light wood elements. You can consider adding green curtains, towels, a soap dispenser, a floor mat, or a shower curtain for a pop of color in the space. Adding in one or more of these simple green accents can help create a tranquil space where you can unwind after a long day.

5. Design a textured accent wall

A popular bathroom design trend is to design a textured accent wall to be the focal point of the room. From a unique geometric design or a chevron pattern to a more traditional board and batten wall design, an accent wall can make your bathroom go from drab to fab in an instant. The pattern you select will help add dimension and depth to the space and allow your personality to shine.

6. Utilize your green surroundings

Is your home located in an area with a lot of green space surrounding it? If so, why not utilize its location to add greenery to your bathroom? If the location of your bathroom allows it, opt for large, open windows that allow you to take in the views outside. If there are trees outside your window, the greenery of the foliage will contrast nicely against a neutral bathroom color scheme. You will feel a sense of peace and calm every time you step foot into your bathroom by enjoying the trees, stars, and nature outside.

7. Opt for a funky patterned wallpaper

Painting the walls of your bathroom isn’t the only way to make remarkable green accent walls in your home. Instead, you can opt for a funky patterned green wallpaper that will enable you to add your own sense of flair to the room’s design. You may install the wallpaper on all the bathroom walls, or you may decide to do it on one wall to complement the space but not be the focal point of the room. Keep in mind that a very dramatic pattern may look better as an accent wall versus being installed in the entire room!

8. Choose a decorative green floor tile

Green tile doesn’t only need to be installed on the walls or as a shower surround. Consider installing a decorative green floor tile as the flooring of your bathroom! This attention-grabbing bathroom design trend is sure to be a crowd pleaser. From dark emerald subway tiles to retro green and white checkered flooring, there is something to match every design aesthetic and make your dream a reality.

Frequently Asked Questions

What shades of green are best for bathrooms?

If you’ve been scouring the internet for green bathroom ideas, you’re probably wondering which shades of green are best for the bathroom. Nearly any shade of green can be used within a bathroom; however, some may create a more serene atmosphere while others may be more eclectic. For example, a muted pea green, sage, or dark green bathroom will create a refreshing and relaxing environment, while a neon green creates a bold and eccentric space. The most popular shades are sage and emerald green.

What colors are most flattering in a bathroom?

Most bathrooms are designed with serenity and relaxation in mind. To convey those feelings in a bathroom, you should opt for a more neutral color palette such as taupe, light gray, white, light blue, light yellow, or light green.

What colors should you not use in a bathroom?

When designing your bathroom, it is recommended that you avoid colors such as browns, deep reds, or blacks which can appear harsh in a smaller room. These bold colors may prevent you from feeling relaxed in the space where you want to unwind at the end of the night. Instead, opt for lighter and more neutral tones.

What color makes a bathroom look bigger?

Your bathroom will have less square footage than other rooms in your home. Because of this, you may be looking for ways to make your bathroom appear larger than it is. In many instances, light colors will help to make the room appear larger ? which is especially important for a room lacking in space.
