Can You Guess Where This Cottage Style Kitchen Is Located?

Traditional Cottage Style KitchenEach city and town in America has its own unique vibe, aesthetic, and feel. It’s adorable to see a Jersey Shore villa decorated in pastels or a Manhattan loft trimmed with exposed brick, but every once in a while, it’s nice to open the door and say, “Wow.”

That’s exactly how I’d feel if I visited the home of this couple above. The kitchen really got me – it reminds me of a grandma’s kitchen where pots of delicious smelling stews are always simmering. Yet, when I read further to see where their home was located, I was shocked. (Read until the end to find out!)

A home should be a sanctuary, and the kitchen is the center of that safe space. We love how the clean white cabinets are so fresh and new, and juxtaposed with the antique, weathered wooden island. These two elements work together because they have a common top – the lightest marble slab.

Next, notice how there is more lower cabinet space instead of upper cabinet space. In lieu of traditional cabinets, the couple went for open style shelving to display their clean white dinnerware, as well as hanging pot contraptions to neatly display all their cookware. Beware as this style can quickly feel cluttered if not organized well, so maintenance and pruning down only to what is absolutely practical is key.

Though this is a traditional cottage style kitchen, we wouldn’t be able to live without the few modern touches, such as the fancy single handle nickel pulldown faucet, or the sparkling industrial like range. Lastly, the kitchen has amazing light!

This is a perfect example that you don’t have to subscribe to whatever is trendy at the time to have a beautiful and warm home. In fact, I can imagine that entering this house after a long day of work and socializing can actually be a refuge…and that’s the point, no? Are you as surprised as I am to find out that this house is in . . . Laurel Canyon; Los Angeles, California.

Wow… that is surprising! I couldn’t have guessed that. But surprises aside, this a pretty good setup. Beautiful and well designed cabinets stacked up high with a wonderful sink.

Not shocking at all! When you really want to give your kitchen the vibe you love so much, it really can be achieved no matter where you live. I love this kitchen, but would have rather used more wooden cabinets.
