Five full-size cabinet door samples fanned out in oak, navy, white, sage and black
What I tell people

If a cabinet finish catches your eye online, order the full-size door sample before you buy the cabinets. Put it next to your floors and countertops, then check it in daylight and at night. A sample is a lot easier than discovering the color looks different after the cabinets arrive.

Then work out where the pots, pans, and everyday dishes will go. The finish should make you smile, but the layout still has to make dinner easier.

Behind the Byline

Where the advice comes from

You should know who is giving you advice before you spend thousands of dollars on a kitchen.

  • I co-founded this company in 2010 and have run the customer-facing side of it since.
  • I oversee how this site presents every door style, price, and lead time we publish.
  • I have watched the catalog change for 16 years, across three cabinet lines and 90 door styles.

I set the topic, outline, and advice for each guide. A writer on our team turns that into a draft. Before it goes live, I review the details a customer can hold us to: prices, lead times, and exactly what comes with an order.

I co-founded and run the company that sells the cabinets discussed in these guides. That is where my experience comes from, and it also means Kitchen Cabinet Kings benefits when readers buy from us. I think you should know both.

If something on this site is wrong, I want to hear about it.
