It?s easier than ever to go online and purchase kitchen cabinets.  More people are doing it than ever before.  It is also very easy to get ripped off on a product that you may not be completely familiar with.  Here is some basic knowledge that a potential consumer of kitchen cabinets should know.

What types of wood are used for most kitchen cabinets?

Although there are many different types of wood used on cabinets the most popular include:  Oak, maple, pine, cherry.  Bamboo is also an option that has become more popular because it?s eco-friendly.

What types of door styles are available?

There are 4 main door styles and they include: inset, lipped, partial overlay, and full overlay.  With the four styles are 5 main door shapes and they are flat slab, recessed panel, raised panel, and curved panel.

What cabinet designs are offered?

The most common designs offered are traditional, country, shaker, and contemporary.

What types of construction can I get?

There is framed and frameless construction.  Frameless cabinets are known to be more of a European-style of cabinet they have a box and no frame.

There are many other aspects of kitchen cabinets and very few people actually know all there is to know.  These are just a few of the basics and if you are going to purchase new cabinets you should at least know the basics.  Good luck finding the cabinets of your dreams!

You absolutely hit the nail on the head (pun intended). I’ve been building custom cabinetry and furniture for 30 years and I’ve installed my share of cabinets ordered on line. It’s very important for customers who purchase cabinetry on-line to become educated as to what goes into building a quality cabinet. Far to many folks buy based on price alone because they don’t know what questions to ask.
